AKM performed a Level 2 condition assessment and feasibility study for the 1348 Zone 3 and 4 pump station, originally constructed in 1959 and upgraded in 2004. The station, equipped with two horizontal centrifugal pumps and served by a 150 kVA transformer, was found to have several structural and operational deficiencies. Although the building structure remained in fair condition, it no longer met current code requirements, and past efficiency testing indicated that the motor for Pump 3 was undersized. AKM evaluated options for upgrading the existing facility, which included increasing electrical service capacity, addressing safety concerns such as trip hazards, installing an overhead bridge crane, upgrading structural elements, and adding motor-operated valves with SCADA integration. While retrofitting with vertical turbine pumps and roof modifications for easier equipment removal was also considered, the age of the facility and the extent of improvements required led AKM to recommend full replacement. The study concluded that constructing a new pump station and demolishing the existing structure would be the most effective long-term solution.
